An illustration for Jude-Marie Green’s short story Sisters, published in the summer issue of The Colored Lens (also available on Amazon).
Keep an eye out for The Colored Lens’ autumn issue: I’ve made art for the cover. :)

It’s Stephanie Gutowski! I had an eye on that photo of hers for a while.
Fun fact: Some time back I had dreamt that I had painted her and was very pleased with the result; woke up to find out I hadn’t, much to my disgruntlement. I consider this amended now, though as usually, in my dreams my work is infinitely better! :}

I still remember attacking this canvas with dripping water and the back of my brush. It made for a texture that I still use periodically in digital works.
I also can’t get rid of the dream that inspired this, even though it’s been more than a decade; the road moving under my feet, my grandfather’s ghostly figure.
I want these roses to look like nightmarish vortices.
Some progress on the cover. Not nearly at the pace it should be, but I was stuck. Getting where it should be now, though.
I’d like to be there, on a terraformed Mars (or one of the distant past?), fishing in the rivers that might have been in Ares Vallis. :)
