Something very quick, trying out a set of canvas-textured brushes. It reminds me of those Fayum mummy portraits as it turned out.
A quick portrait study - the first for 2013, and the first from my new work space. Also, I suspect the nice habit of going to bed early I had formed after moving is soon to go to the dogs. Why sleep when you can paint? :B

It’s Stephanie Gutowski! I had an eye on that photo of hers for a while.
Fun fact: Some time back I had dreamt that I had painted her and was very pleased with the result; woke up to find out I hadn’t, much to my disgruntlement. I consider this amended now, though as usually, in my dreams my work is infinitely better! :}
