Something quick and just about as formless as sea-foam. :}
No reference, hope it doesn’t show too much.
A quick figure study of sorts from a while back.
Reference: still capture of Hunger, 2008.
Something very quick, trying out a set of canvas-textured brushes. It reminds me of those Fayum mummy portraits as it turned out.
A quick portrait study - the first for 2013, and the first from my new work space. Also, I suspect the nice habit of going to bed early I had formed after moving is soon to go to the dogs. Why sleep when you can paint? :B

The cover I made for The Other Half of the Sky, an anthology of science fiction stories with women protagonists, edited by Athena Andreadis. It will be published by Candlemark & Gleam in April 2013.
Check out my blog for more information regarding the anthology and the cover’s creation. :)
Eleni Tsami aka Eilidh - Shade, 2012 Digital Arts
Post my picture on tumblr, get 3 notes. Random person posts it, it goes viral. -_-
Shade
A painting for the cover of the autumn issue of The Colored Lens (available on Amazon now).
A fisherman of Ares Vallis - Eleni Tsami
This piece has several flaws, but it’s close to my heart. Because, you know, Mars. <3
But I think the colours came out all right, too. :D
This was painted about a year ago as environment practice. Added some final touches today.
Two more illustrations for Zeitgeist #5. (More info on the blog.)
@euphorbic posed for this! <3 I’ve changed her pose, but the lovely hand is all hers.
It’s Stephanie Gutowski! I had an eye on that photo of hers for a while.
Fun fact: Some time back I had dreamt that I had painted her and was very pleased with the result; woke up to find out I hadn’t, much to my disgruntlement. I consider this amended now, though as usually, in my dreams my work is infinitely better! :}
Photoshop, a couple of hours on and off. Reference courtesy of Steph.
I can’t really show this for another three months (though you can find it very soon in upcoming issue #4 of The Colored Lens), but due to the low traffic of this blog I’m showing a sneak peek. :)
I’m still fooling around (worked on her face mostly so far), but here’s one thought I had about an outfit.
The thinking behind this is based on the fact that Samara compares her role as a Justicar with that of a knight-errant. Also, unless I’m terribly wrong, she has no possessions. From such a roving, deprived lifestyle - and being quite old for an asari, I feel her appearance should be at least somewhat worn.
As for the outfit, it should be something practical - e.g. suited for combat. Since the devs went for the claim that her abyssal cleavage was okay because she relied on barriers, I’m not going for armour, either.
A tighter top might be more comfortable, though.
I usually love my first rough sketches, and if I’m lucky, the finished result will be decent, too. But I hate these intermediate stages with a passion.
